Public Health Investments in Other Council Departments 24/25
Public Health uses Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) to make sure the Public Health Grant is used transparently and supports local goals. MOUs set out clear outcomes, responsibilities, and governance, helping us work across the whole council — from housing and planning to environmental health and children’s services — to tackle the wider factors that affect health. This joined up approach supports prevention, encourages collaboration, and reduces longterm pressure on health and social care, while keeping strong oversight of funding.
The chart shows how Public Health invests a percentage of the Public Health Grant across other council departments through MOUs. These agreements ensure funding is used transparently and effectively, supporting prevention focused work across services to meet public health outcomes. By working in this joined up way, we can target the wider factors that influence health while keeping strong oversight of how the Public Health Grant is used.
